Marketing Overview
British Columbia has long had an enviable reputation for mountain biking with internationally recognized resorts, communities, trails, manufacturers, websites, film makers and pro riders. Recognizing the opportunity to increase visitors to BC, in 2008, the Province of British Columbia developed a draft policy for authorizing mountain bike trails on Crown Land. The policy has been pivotal in creating new mountain bike recreation and tourism opportunities for communities throughout the province.
In April 2010, the MBTA in partnership with Province of British Columbia launched the British Columbia Mountain Bike Tourism Plan. The vision and details for the Plan were captured from consultations with key stakeholders in a series of regional meetings conducted in 2009 by Pinnacle Consulting. The Plan represented a multi-year approach to establishing a comprehensive marketing program lead by the MBTA and built around the recognition of BC being the most diverse mountain biking destination in the world.
Mountain Biking BC is a collaborative marketing initiative supported by communities and resorts across British Columbia that have authorized trails that are well managed by dedicated local mountain bike groups.
